What are we looking for?

Inspiring Girls Expeditions combines science, art, inquiry, and wilderness travel. We are looking for participants who will contribute in a unique way to the team. We are looking for applicants who can each bring a unique contribution to the team. Because we look for applicants who will share their perspectives and learn from one another, we do not choose team members based solely on their individual applications. We choose the team as a whole, according to what each member brings to the team.

When selecting our expedition teams, we look for:

  • 1. Diversity of backgrounds: a range of racial, ethnic, cultural, economic, family and geographic backgrounds.

  • 2. Diversity of interests and life experiences: a balance of interest in science, environment, outdoors, art, philosophy, social issues, politics, and more. If you are passionate about something, tell us about it!

  • 3. Opportunity: this is a unique, tuition-free program and we prioritize applicants who may have limited access to many extracurricular activities.

We do not necessarily seek applicants who are top athletes, have the best grades, or participate in the most extracurricular activities. We are looking for participants who have a genuine interest in science, art, critical thinking and the outdoors. If you think Inspiring Girls Expeditions might not be the right match for you, please check out this list of other fantastic opportunities.
